We offer a complete portfolio of analytical services for determining the suitability of a selected heat transfer fluid for your application. We carry out a determination of the actual level of exhaustion and decrease in effectivity of additives in your media. We assess the decrease or increase in viscosity and solidification point. Detection of possible contamination, etc. We carry out some analyses ourselves in our own developmental and control laboratory. We mediate other services performed on cutting-edge equipment.

Assessing the antifreeze and anti-corrosion
properties of employed fluids

Thanks to our own development of antifreeze mixtures and consistent control of production quality, the CLASSIC Oil s.r.o. laboratory is equipped with the most important instruments for antifreeze mixtures. Thus we are able to provide our customers, mostly free-of-charge and other partners for a small fee, with assessment of the condition of heat transfer fluids from circuits and potential for their further use, proposal for its partial or complete replacement, or an increase in the concentration to ensure heat resistance or anti-corrosion protection. This particularly applies to the following parameters and their determination:

  • Initial crystallisation temperature and solidification point – using a refractometer or a cryostat
  • Density, dynamic and kinematic viscosity at temperatures from -40°C to 100 °C
  • pH and free alkalinity
  • Boiling point, flash-point temperature (closed crucible)
  • Index of refraction (Brix) at temperatures from 5 to 100 °C
  • Specific electrical conductance
  • Water content in alcohols and oils
  • Anti-corrosion test according to the ASTM D1384 standard for 14 days at 88 °C
  • Determining dry matter, evaporation residue or active substances in materials
  • Testing the purity of alcohols, determining the kind of alcohol or glycol by gas chromatography
  • Determination of the presence of methanol in alcoholic beverages or windshield washer fluids by GC

Assessing the quality of oils, lubricants and emulsions

The company laboratory is capable of assessing the basic parameters of oils and lubricants, such as viscosity and density, both parameters in a wide temperature range, water content and flash point temperature. The pH values of emulsions can be determined, microbiological tests can be performed and the conductivity and hardness of water can be determined. Further parameters and tests can be mediated at external laboratories.
